WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING: MAR 11TH – MAR 24TH

So last week I was so busy that this one just flew over my head and I didn’t get it done. So here’s a two-week long version of the weekly tally.

My constant business continues where I just can’t manage to get to all the films and the TV I want to do, but it’s time I buck up and just stop this annoying this called sleep that impedes my film watching. Anyways here’s what I could muster up over the last two weeks:

FIRST TIME VIEWS

BANDE A PART (BAND OF OUTSIDERS) (1964) – it’s a great introduction to Godard as a fun film with enjoyable characters, but the plot has something to be desired.
21 JUMP STREET (2012) – Where did it say Tatum was allowed to be so awesome? I loved it, but there were a few hiccups along the way.
WANDERLUST (2012) – Intermittently funny, but the funny bits make up for the not so funny by being that much more funny.
CARNAGE (2011) – Four amazing actors stuck in a room pulling each others hair out that well is worthy of being a Polanski film.
MY LEFT FOOT (1989) – Ridiculously manipulative and sentimental, but damn is Daniel Day Lewis amazing.
THE SKIN I LIVE IN (2011) – One of the most fucked up films from last year, I sort of loved it.
THE HUNGER GAMES (2012) – A lot of nothing enhanced by poor filmmaking and storytelling all around.

REWATCHED

YOUNG ADULT (2012) – “You’re a piece of work”
THE APARTMENT (1960) – “That’s the way it crumbles… cookie-wise.”
THE WONDER YEARS (Season 1) “There’s no easy way to say this… I grew up in the suburbs.”

THE COUNT

44 First time watches (10 from 2012); 24 Rewatches; 68 Total Films

SONG OF THE WEEK

What’ve You Been Watching?

Andrew Robinson

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

Re-watched LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA yesterday for the first time since theatres. Fuck me had I ever forgotten how amazing that movie is! The only sad little drawback was that I think the audio on the dvd wasn't mixed all that well because the dialogue was almost inaudible, followed by explosions that were ear-rattling.

I've never watched either of Eastwood'd films from that year *LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA or FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. I remember trying to watch one of the two and just getting bored. I should probably give it another shot.
