WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING: FEB 12TH – FEB 18TH

It’s been a great week for me with movies to be quite honest. I’m trying to push myself through the remainder of my gaping holes in what I’ve seen that’s up for the Academy Awards next Sunday, so expect a much longer list than this next week, and this is going to be a great way for me to catch up on great things that I missed.

FIRST TIME VIEWINGS

TINY FURNITURE (2011) – says a lot about post collegiate life in this current world.
A CAT IN PARIS (2010) – brilliant piece of animation that never stopped delighting me.
MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE (2011) – Lovely back and forth storytelling of how this two year experience at this commune has damaged this woman.
THE ARTIST (2011) – it’s much more than just someone deciding to make a silent movie today.
A BETTER LIFE (2011) – probably one of the best father/son relationship stories from last year.

REWATCHED

WINGS (SEASON 1) – couldn’t find a quote I liked from this season, but it’s a show that I used to watch as a child and still makes me smile.
THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD (2007) “Can’t figure it out: do you want to be like me or do you want to BE me?”
THE WEATHER MAN (2005)“That’s quite an American accomplishment”

THE COUNT

24 First time watches (1 from 2012); 16 Rewatches; 40 Total Films

SONG OF THE WEEK

What’ve You Been Watching?

Andrew Robinson

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

I really wanted to like MMMM but it just didn't do it for me.  This is coming from a guy who is a big Hawkes fan and has a soft spot for pretentious art films.
