TOP TEN GEORGE CLOONEY ROLES

Thanks to ManILoveFilms for the above captioned shot from The Descendants.

This week I wanted to highlight the career of, the just hitting running speed, George Clooney. His first IMdb credit comes from 1968 and in the last two decades he’s been the limelight of acting. Here’s my favourite performances of his career:

10. Jack/Edward – The American (2010)

The American is a film that while only being a couple years old many have already forgotten. It received mixed reviews but I loved it at the time, but sadly time has already been very harsh to it. The film stands out in Clooney‘s career because it’s one of his few somewhat physically demanding role that asked him to do a lot without saying much, which is the complete opposite of his wheelhouse, and he pulls it off perfectly.

9. Seth Gecko – From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Putting Clooney in the lead role of a vampire action film directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino is just a recipe for amazingness as each and every time Clooney has to lay down the hammer on a lengthy stretch of dialogue he nails it.

8. Mr. Fox – Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

Here is another side to Clooney that not many suspected for a long time until he eventually teamed up with the Coen Brothers, his quirky comedic side. Take that and add a level of dry Wes Anderson humour and you have one of the best on screen fathers that we’ve seen in cinema for a while, ignore the fact that he’s a fox and he continually puts him and his family in harms way due to his own recklessness and just enjoy the gags that the movie is.

7. Everett – O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

Did I mention Clooney and the Coens working together? Well this is the kind of thing that I’m talking about. Here Clooney plays the slick talking leader of a group of misfits trekking across the USA for treasure in a re-imagining of Homer’s Odyssey. It’s probably the film that propelled Clooney‘s comedic talents (not counting his time spent as Batman) into the limelight.

6. Danny Ocean – Ocean’s Trilogy (2001 – 2007)

Here is the best example of Clooney being Clooney and letting the comedy just exist around him. Here he plays one of the fast witted characters that doesn’t need to leave a pause after each line delivery for the audience to have time to laugh but rather just lets the wit of a natural conversation between two (sometimes not as many) smart people just be the fun romp that it is.

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

My favorite is probably Jack Foley of Out of Sight.  My least favorite Clooney role is Batman & Robin.  He was so wrong for that.

I think it's just boring to talk abt Batman at this point.. he admits it was horrible, we all move on. I feel almost like it's been long enough that I should be able to watch that movie and laugh at it full on now.
