As 2009 came to end so started every blogger and film critic letting the world know what he/she thought was the best of the best of the year.  Even I let my thoughts be known on the topic here.  After reading threw a ton of these lists I noticed the variety of films being mentioned and I thought, what would be the best of the best if instead of 1 guy/girl telling me their thoughts we all got together and duked it out over why one movie should be put above another.  Well since I knew it was almost impossible to get so many people in one room and it would probably end in a few fatalities as soon as certain words that can’t be taken back were said.  So what I’ve done is I jotted down as many Top Ten lists as I could find and decided to merge them all into one mammoth of a list.

So here are the rules for how I worked this list.

1. Your list must be ranked (if you just list 20 movies and refuse to put your foot down and say that Fantastic Mr. Fox is better than Up your list is disqualified),
2. I do accept lists of top fifteen, twenty, five million.  However, only your Top Ten are counted for my merged list (the rest are considered honourable mentions in my eyes),
3. Each entry in your list was given a weight.  This works that your #1 got 10 points, #2 got 9 points, #3 got 8 points, until eventually we get to your #10 which gets 1 point.  Then when all the weights were added this is what decides which movie gets which rank in this compiled list.

It’s quite a list of films.  Even though Inglorious Basterds isn’t my #1 film of 2009 it makes me happy inside that Tarantino is getting so much love for his WWII fantasy film.
