WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING: JAN 1 – JAN 3

Lesson of Evil

It’s a new year. Last year a racked up a record 500+ films watched in total and somehow it seems unreal. I remember a while back I used to think to myself that something I wanted was to have a film collection so vast that if I decided to watch a movie a day I’d have never repeated a film, which is the territory of film collections I’m in now. However, at the same time I’m enjoying leaving certain films on the shelf for a couple years in order to come back to it with even fresher eyes than before. A week or so back (in the forgotten 2013) I revisited True Grit for the first time since 2010 and it just felt magical again, this is what I want in my movie experience and I’m happy that I’ve yet to break that.

So do I think I’m going to crack 550+ this year? I don’t know. I’m not actively trying to, but if I do then it’s going to be a very interesting year for movies.

Also, at this time of year I tend to start making bets as to how far into the year it will be before I see a true 2014 release (as defined by the US release schedule), I’m betting not till February.

Anyways this what’s been occupying my time the first few days of the new year.

AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD (1972) – I’m glad Terrence Malick made this film better with Pocahontas…
LESSON OF EVIL (2013) – I love you Miike, but this one didn’t quite work all the way

REWATCHED

My count for the year of 2014 is updated to 2 First time watches (0 from 2014); 1 Rewatches; 3 Total Films

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
