The Rules:
- The Draft
- Each participant will select 20 films. 17 films for their “main team” and 3 (in order) substitutes.
- Upon the initial 17 films selected each participant must select at least one film being released in each month of the year.
- Points Calculation
- Each player is given points from the calculation of (Average Rating/4) * US Domestic Gross (2/1/15 – 10/1/16). If a participant doesn’t watch the film they are attributed with 0 points. A player cannot rate a film as a fraction or give a film a 0. All averages are rounded down below 2/3.
- A player will be penalized 1/4 of the US Domestic Box Office Gross if they do not watch 12 of the films in their final team at the end of the year.
- Substitutes
- A substitute (in order of priority) will overtake any film that is either pushed out of the year’s release schedule or a film was unable to be viewed (within reason).
- End of Year Bonus
- At the end of the year based on the average rating of all your films you can earn a $200M bonus.
- Your roster bonus is based on only your ratings of your films (other players do not matter)
- Films you haven’t rated are not included in the average.
- The other five players with lower averages lose $40M from the overall points (which is transferred to the winner, i.e. $200M)
- Trades & Waivers
- You can trade only movies, no direct moneytary/points/ratings trades can be made.
- All trades upon agreement of both parties must be sent by each party to me (andrew.robinson@gmanreviews.
com) in order to be valid. - You are not allowed to complete a trade if it breaks the 12 month rule of your roster (i.e. if you only have 1 film in April you cannot trade that film unless you are receiving an April film in return)
- In the case where multiple films are being traded if your roster after the trade is less than 17 then you must immediately pick up a ‘free’ film that has yet to be released and earn box office to fill your roster.
- In the case where multiple films are being traded if your roster is more than 17 then you must drop films from your roster till you have 17.
- You cannot trade substitute films.
- You can drop films from your roster for ‘free’ films (referred to as waivers) as long as the film is not released and has not earned any box office yet.
- All the above actions will be enacted on the last Saturday of the month (the tentative date for the end of month round up podcast)
- Waivers will be done in a specified order. This order is determined by the unscaled box office points earned by a players’ films in the relative month. The order of the draft will be in ascending order (i.e. the person who’s films of the month earned the lease amount of box office will have first draft and so on.)
