THIS WEEK ON DVD

It’s time again to take a look at what’s coming out on DVD

Don’t Even Think About It

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

The Goods - Live Hard Sell Hard

Here is Jeremy Piven taking the character he’s become marginally famous for recently (i.e. Ari Gold from Entourage) and making him the lead role of a ninety-minute comedy that made it’s money back at the box office only because the movie was made for dirt cheap.  The film is filled with some of the dumbest jokes you’ll find all year as he tries to save a dying car dealership on the Independence Day Weekend.  Please, don’t watch this movie.

I Haven’t seen it and Don’t want to

G – Force

G Force

Here’s another children’s movie that panders directly to the children it seems.  I guess if you have a bunch of children it’s looks like it’s worth the rent for them but I doubt it will have anything there for the older audience.  I guess it stings only because it took the name of one of the animes that I used to enjoy as a young child and made it into a movie about gerbils or whatever these things are.

The Other Man

The Other Man

Liam Neeson’s wife leaves him for this mystery man who he discovers is Antonio Banderas.  The movie looks really lame and too much thriller nonsense between Neeson and Banderas (who I’ve never really liked that much).  I’m going to skip it because after only a couple weeks in the cinema it was dumped from it’s markets and it’s already on DVD for all of the rental stores to gain dust on.

The Girl From Monaco

The Girl From Monaco

Here is what seems to be a bland foreign love triangle where a man who has no idea how to talk to a woman is taught how to by his driver, and then the driver steals his woman.  Bah to that.

I Haven’t Seen and I Want to

Taking Woodstock

Taking Woodstock

Ang Lee always seems to do things technically well before anything else and it’s been reported by Douglas on the podcast that he does this here.  So the movie may not be the best comedy about the happenings of the first ever Woodstock concert, but I want to see it because I tend to enjoy Ang Lee’s films (let’s just forget about that Hulk movie ok).

Buy Them Now

The Hangover

The Hangover

My initial thoughts on this movie were pretty mixed but today I sat down and rewatched it and I’m completely changed.  This movie is hilarious and everyone needs to see it.  Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis rule this movie and are down right hysterical line after line.

Inglorious Basterds

Inglorious Basterds - Roth & Pitt

Even though I had a few complaints to go along with this movie it is still one of my favourites of 2009 and as a Tarantino fan I cannot not buy this on BluRay.  If you still haven’t seen it you need to now.  Here is my review.

The Mel Brooks Collection

Mel Brooks

Mel Brooks is one of my favourite comedic director/writers ever.  Even though there are still a few of his films I have yet to see (like Silent Movie) I love his movies in general and I know this is one of the more expensive buys out there today but if you’re like me (and happen to have a few extra coins hiding in the lining of the couch) you want this like I do.  Also, it may be that special Christmas Present for that special movie nerd friend you have out there.

Here are some movies being rereleased on BluRay for HD fans

Here is the thing.  I’m not ‘recommending’ these movies.  I’m just letting the already fans of the new generation of home theatre and the movies about to be mentioned.  Personally all of these movies are either buys or rentals because they are all either movies that have a reputation to go along with them but I may not have seen all of them.  So this week on BluRay is:

Star Trek - TOS

Star Trek: the Original Series (Seasons 1 -3)

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo (Complete Series)

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
