THE 2017 TALLY: WEEK 5-6 (JAN 28 – FEB 10)

So I totally missed last week’s log. And while I’m backdating this post I missed this one too. So here are two weeks’ worth of movie viewing in one.

This was also a week where I spent it applying to schools again. I haven’t been able to say that out loud for over a decade and it’s strange. I also begin my year long campaign in getting on a plane to go elsewhere in the world. I don’t know if that campaign will fail or win, but here I am campaigning.

Anyways, let’s get to the movies.

FIRST TIME VIEWINGS

OFFSIDE (2006) – Panahi makes me feel for girls wanting to watch football and loving watching people be excited for football.
APRIL AND THE EXTRAORDINARY WORLD (2016) – It’s a poor Miyazaki rip off that isn’t any good.
THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN (2016) – I was in stitches
HIDDEN FIGURES (2016) – We all wish our work was this important.
BILL BURR: WALK YOUR WAY OUT (2017) – Meh
POLYTECHNIQUE (2009) – Meh
DANCER IN THE DARK (2000) – Musical, but sad, weird.
HARLAN COUNTY U.S.A. (1976) – I like docs that show me new things. This did. It however had me so far in the mundanity of their struggle it was hard. I will revisit this one sometime in the future.
HACKSAW RIDGE (2016) – I liked 20 minutes of it. The rest was ok.
BILLY LYNN’S LONG HALFTIME WALK (2016) – This movie was so sappy and weird, but somehow I liked it more than Hacksaw, because it felt human.

REWATCHES

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (2015) – I love this new team.
ALL THAT JAZZ (1979) – I love this movie’s vibe.
LA LA LAND (2016) – I love this movie’s just general sass.

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
