As 2009 came to end so started every blogger and film critic letting the world know what he/she thought was the best of the best of the year. Even I let my thoughts be known on the topic here. After reading threw a ton of these lists I noticed the variety of films being mentioned and I thought, what would be the best of the best if instead of 1 guy/girl telling me their thoughts we all got together and duked it out over why one movie should be put above another. So here is a new feature that I plan to do at least every two weeks – I need to time to catch up on films that I’ve missed from the directors that I will cover – where I will talk about my thoughts on a particular filmmaker and give mini-reviews for that director’s films (or at least more or less a the highlight reel to his/her films). I will try to cover not only new and upcoming filmmakers but well-established ones. Let me know in the comments what you think about this article and if you think it is something you’d like to see me continue to do. (more…)

I notice that most of my lists are not specific to my inherent problem that I live in Jamaica. Now most of you non Jamaican readers out there will probably be saying “what’s wrong with Jamaica? I want to live there!!” and I would agree with you for all the reasons that you would give, great weather and all. However, when one of your huge hobbies/interests is movies it becomes a hell of a place to hate. The theatres here never release anything that doesn’t have at least twenty explosions or made by Tyler Perry. So here is me letting you all the movies that I totally want to see but probably won’t due to the fact that I live in Jamaica. (more…)
