note:  I’ve decided to go back to doing individual reviews for each film in my marathons.  Please continue to enjoy.

Having decided to marry, Bror Blixen (Klaus Maria Brandauer), Karin (Meryl Streep) migrates to Africa to do so and run a farm while she’s there.  Eventually she finds that she meets Denys (Robert Redford) and falls madly in love with him after discovering that this marriage she wanted turned out to be nothing like she expected.  The film chronicles Karin’s time in Africa. After the war is over Bob Wallace [Bing Crosby] and Phil Davis [Danny Kaye] team up to become one of the biggest show men and producers in the show business, and on this Christmas Phil decides to follow the Haynes sisters, Betty [Rosemary Clooney] and Judy [Vera-Ellen], to Vermont where they are booked for a show.  When they arrive in Vermont they find out that their old General Waverly [Dean Jagger] is the owner of the inn and having a tough time with business.  The boys then decide to throw on a show to cheer up the General and try and boost his business. Tom Hansen [Joseph Gordon-Levitt] works as at a greeting card company and his boss just got a new assistant, Summer Finn [Zooey Deschanel], that he falls in love with at first sight.  The movie takes u through the 500 days of Tom’s life with Summer, including the ups and downs.  The best way to summarize this movie is a story about love, but it isn’t a love story. Julie Powell [Amy Adams] is turning thirty and questioning what she’s done with her life.  She decides to take on a project and titles it ‘The Julie/Julia Project’.  She created a blog on the internet way back in 2002 and decides to cook her way through Julia Childs’ [Meryl Streep] cook book.  At the same time we get the story of how Julia Childs who plays a bored housewife to a government employee, Paul Child [Stanley Tucci], becomes a master of the French Cuisine and eventually publishes one of the biggest cook books on French Cuisine. Mike [Gerard Butler] is a racy commentator on relationships and the truth about them. He is brought onto a local network television show which is produced by the overly controlling and romantically challenged Abby [Katherine Heigl]. Abby can’t stand Mike’s perception of the men and women and after Mike bets his job on his ability to help Abby land this ‘dreamy’ guy we enter one of the most uneven romantic comedies we’ll probably see for a long time.
