John Hughes is one of the great names in filmmaking from the 80s. He was the director and writer of beloved films such as: The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Wierd Science and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Yesterday it was reported that John Hughes died of a heart attack. (more…)

Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest directors ever, will be directing an adaptation of Harvey. The original play was written by Mary Chase in 1944, it was then adapted into a film in 1950 starring James Stewart. (more…)

It’s been reported that Ridley Scott [also directed films such as Blade Runner and Black Hawk Down] has been attached to direct the upcoming prequel for the Alien franchise. The screenplay is currently being written by Jon Spaihts. It has been three decades since the first Alien film was released, which was directed by Ridley Scott, and with many people curious as to what kind of prequel we can be expecting it is just exciting to hear that Ridley is back on the franchise that he started. Ben Affleck [also directed Gone Baby Gone] will be directing his second feature length film, The Town, which is based on the novel “Prince of Thieves” written by Chuck Hogan. This is once again an attempt for me to create a weekly article here on gmanreviews. I know I’ve disappointed you many times before promising some weekly pieces which have ranged from slightly interesting to completely useless. However, I promise I will try my best to keep this one going. And whenever I can’t find ten news pieces I’ll try to pad with cool articles that I like.
I don’t cover news on the site for the main reason that most of the news reported on film blogs that I read are either uninteresting or unconfirmed rumour most of the time. But on the odd occasion that the news is in fact genuine then that is when I jump up in joy reading some of it and other times fall into a deep dark depression.
