This weekend there were three big releases:

  1. Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears a Who!
  2. Never Back Down
  3. Doomsday

Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears a Who!” being the third Dr. Suess movie to be made in recent years (the other two being “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000) and “The Cat in a Hat” (2003)) took top spot this weekend past in the American box office grossing an estimated US$45.1 million from 3954 theatres. This is the second highest debut Dr. Suess film so far, with “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” taking US$55.1 million from 3127 theatres in its opening weekend, and “The Cat in a Hat” placing last with US$38.3 million after the opening weekend.

Returning epic in its second week of showing “10,000 B.C.” placed second this week with a 54.2% drop in revenue at the theatres, only making US$16.4 million from 3410 theatres. Dr. Suess definitely took a toll on its money making this weekend past.

Third place went to newcomer “Never Back Down” who made US$8.6 million from 2729 theatres. The trailer didn’t seem too inspiring, my guess is anyone who went to theatres and reached too late to get into Dr Suess or 10,000 B.C. they couldn’t bother go home and decided to waste their money on this turd.

So the overall top ten money-making films over the weekend in the US’s box office are:

1. “Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears a Who!” $45,100,000
2. “10,000 B.C.” $16,415,000
3. “Never Back Down” $8,610,000
4. “College Road Trip” $7,893,000
5. “Vantage Point” $5,400,000
6. “The Bank Job” $4,910,000
7. “Doomsday” $4,743,000
8. “Semi-Pro” $3,000,000
9. “The Other Boleyn Girl” $2,900,000
10. “The Spiderwick Chronicles” $2,390,000

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
