So you want to know what comes out on DVD today? Okay: (more…)

Nick [Eric Christian Olsen] and Shawn [Nicholas D’Agosto] are two guys in high school on the football team and like to get with every girl they can. Football camp is coming up and they are not looking forward to it as it means two weeks in the middle of nowhere with nothing but twenty other sweating guys. So they get the brilliant idea that they will join the cheerleading squad and go the cheer camp where it will be nothing but women 24/7 where they can get all the ladies from all the other schools that they’ve never even heard of before. (more…)

Joe [Nicholas Cage] is a highly skilled hitman who is heading to Bangkok to do his final job. There he befriends a smalltime hustler, Kong [Shahkrit Yamnarm], who he contracts as his personal messenger. Joe is contracted by some Asian gangsters to take out four targets and we follow him as he completes these tasks.

I must say that this movie, being the first movie I’ve officially watched in 2009, started out my year with me being very uncomfortable. The movie is based around Jasira [Summer Bishil] dealing with her coming of age and with all the changes in her body and her thoughts – i.e. being ridiculously horny – and I was not ready to see this young woman rock her legs till she orgasms while reading some gentleman’s magazines. And when they got around to the rape scene I was totally freaked out because I totally believed that Summer was, at most, fifteen years old and I didn’t want to be arrested for watching any kiddy porn. This discomfort was relieved immediately after watching the movie when I checked the age of the actress and found out she was 20 when the movie was filmed, wow she looks young.

Steve Addington [Matthew McConaughey] has returned home to California from his trip around the world of riding all the most awesomest waves around. His previous cash horse has sold out their assets to some company that doesn’t understand Addington’s world of surfing and they want to digitize him and monetize his skills by way of reality TV and video games and all other which ways, but that is not the Addington way of life. Addington is the most one minded character you’ve seen in a long while, he doesn’t want anything other than to lay on the beach all day and surf when a wave comes along. The movie follows this fun character around as he is messed with by the business to try and taint that purity for him.
