Facebook Movie get’s Casting Updates

Facebook - Eisenberg & Zuckerman

The film based on the novel The Accidental Billionaires that was based on the founding of the popular social networking website Facebook has received some casting updates.  David Fincher, who is directing the film, has finally decided on most of the leading cast.  Jesse Eisenberg [also from Adventureland and Zombieland] will be playing Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Timerberlake [also from Black Snake Moan and Southland Tales]  will be playing Sean Parker – a founding president of the corporation – and Andrew Garfield [also from Boy A] will be playing Eduardo Saverin – another founding president who helped create the project with Zuckerberg and eventually had a falling out with Zuckerberg. J.J. Abrams will be producing a comedy for FOX

It’s being reported that FOX has decided to order a presentation order on an untitled medical comedy being Executive Produced by J.J. Abrams [also produced Lost, Alias, Star Trek and Cloverfield] and written by Mike Markowitz [also wrote for Becker].  (more…)

John Hughes passes away at 59

John Hughes is one of the great names in filmmaking from the 80s.  He was the director and writer of beloved films such as: The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Wierd Science and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  Yesterday it was reported that John Hughes died of a heart attack. Pirates 4 may be directed by Rob Marshall

Rob Marshall, the director of Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago, is apparently being approached to direct the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.  It was reported last week that Disney is planning to start shooting the sequel next year with hopes of releasing the film in 2011.  (more…)

Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest directors ever, will be directing an adaptation of Harvey.  The original play was written by Mary Chase in 1944, it was then adapted into a film in 1950 starring James Stewart. (more…)

HBO renews Entourage, True Blood & Hung

Ridley Scott attached to direct the Alien prequel

It’s been reported that Ridley Scott [also directed films such as Blade Runner and Black Hawk Down] has been attached to direct the upcoming prequel for the Alien franchise.  The screenplay is currently being written by Jon Spaihts.  It has been three decades since the first Alien film was released, which was directed by Ridley Scott, and with many people curious as to what kind of prequel we can be expecting it is just exciting to hear that Ridley is back on the franchise that he started. Rebecca Hall and Jon Hamm cast in Affleck’s ‘The Town’

Ben Affleck [also directed Gone Baby Gone] will be directing his second feature length film, The Town, which is based on the novel “Prince of Thieves” written by Chuck Hogan.  The book is about “a dashing Boston bank robber who falls in love with a bank teller while eluding the unwanted attentions of the FBI.” (more…)
