TOP TEN MOST ANTICIPATED SUMMER FILMS OF 2012

For the last two years running my anticipated lists have been well received (2011, 2010) so here I am again having survived the dregs of third of the year with honestly not much to show for it. But like rainbows coming after a spring shower it’s time for the bombs to go off and all that jazz, cuz the summer season is here.

10. Safety Not Guaranteed (June 8 )

I don’t know what it is about her but I dig Aubrey Plaza. This movie looks like it may not be much, but I can’t wait to check it out and see how the basic romantic comedy based on a preposterous setup of a guy believing he’s invented time travel.

9. High School (June 1)

So… Adrien Brody is one of those actors that no matter how poor a film seems he can always brighten it up completely. Seeing this image of him being this ridiculous cannabis salesman makes me smile in ways you can’t imagine.

8. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (June 22)

I want to tell you that I have a good reason for this one, but that would be a lie. The apocalypse is a weird time to be making friends and trying to reunite with people, but I just want to see me some crazy Patton Oswalt. I’m pretty sure he’ll be in one scene of this movie and be done, but I still will enjoy the Carrell and Knightley moments I hope.

7. G. I. Joe: Retaliation (June 29)

Did I mention explosions? Because for some reason we haven’t seen any yet. Until The Rock showed up and decided that Cobra is bad…. I remember reading when this sequel was announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt wouldn’t return as Cobra Commander, but we see the character, can I hope for a cameo voice over or something? I know this is going to be trashy explosions, but I can’t help myself… I still enjoy the first film and that movie was bad.

6. Avengers (May 2)

Deep down I believe Marvel owns my soul. I read way too many of their comics and now I’m in too deep. I couldn’t even see how bad Iron Man 2 was when it was released (review). But hey, at least now I can go see all four big boys (Cap America, Iron Man, Thor & Hulk) fight over who gets to be the team captain and wonder why they’re listening to Sam Jackson at the end of all their movies.

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
