Trailers: Buried

Here’s the first theatrical trailer for the Rodrigo Cortes film starring Ryan Reynolds Buried. It got rave reviews earlier in the year when it ran during numerous festivals. It’s about an American soldier who’s captured and buried alive. It seems that he’s left alone in this coffin with nothing but a light and a phone as he tries to figure out the mystery, save his life and hopefully not give up his position to Charlie (or something like that). See the trailer below:
What do I say about a trailer which was made for radio? The trailer features no footage, but since I already know that this movie is placed entirely in the coffin with Reynolds I can kind of understand why the filmmaker may be timid to try and use footage in the trailer. It might be tough to make the movie look appealing to audiences where all we’re going to see is a man in a tight confined space for ninety minutes (or however long the movie is) with a light, a phone and busy scribbling notes with his sharpened fingernails or something like that. However, I’m still intrigued not just by the premise (which has been done) but also by the interestingly new execution. I guess it also helps that I do like Ryan Reynolds as an actor and want to see him more.
What did you think of the BURIED trailer?
Here's a blog, started in 2008, all about movies. I know, not very original but it's what I love.
