Once again it’s time to talk about movies I may or may not be seeing at the cinema this week:

Nine

Directed by: Rob Marshall

Written by: Michael Tolkin & Anthony Minghella

Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Sophia Loren & Stacy Ferguson (aka. Fergie)

Synopsis: Arrogant, self-centered movie director Guido Contini finds himself struggling to find meaning, purpose, and a script for his latest film endeavor. With only a week left before shooting begins, he desperately searches for answers and inspiration from his wife, his mistress, his muse, and his mother. As his chaotic profession steadily destroys his personal life, Guido must find a balance between creating art and succumbing to its obsessive demands.

Trailer:

My Thoughts? Here is a movie that I’ve been waiting for a long while to see.  Rob Marshall returns to musicals for the first time since his 2002 hit Chicago.  I love a great musical and this looks like it for me.  Even though recently I watched the film that this is based off of (Federico Feillini’s 8 1/2) and was not pleased with it if there’s one thing that can increase my enjoyment of the film has to be some song and dance routines.  I’m there for this one.

Daybreakers

Directed by: Michael Spiereg & Peter Spiereg

Written by: Michael Spiereg & Peter Spiereg

Starring: Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke & Sam Neill

Synopsis: In the year 2019, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.

Trailer:

My Thoughts? This looks like a fun action-filled vampire film that isn’t called Twilight.  I’ve heard some bad things about this movie but the idea alone is enough to get me.  The vampires rule the world and the human-race is on the verge of extinction while at the same time the vampire population having trouble with their blood supply.  And all at the same time bandits have figured out how to make a vampire human again.  It looks cool, and Willem Dafoe is in it.
