Coming Out This Week
January 10th, 2010by Andrew Robinson

So this week in theatres are:
The Book of Eli

Directed by: Albert Hughes & Allen Hughes
Written by: Gary Whitta
Starring: Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman & Mila Kunis
Synopsis: A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind.
Trailer:
My Thoughts? I must be honest, I’m not completely sold on this movie. I’m not a fan of the recent Denzel films and this is coming from first time writer Gary Whitta. However it is directed by the Hughes brothers, who also gave us From Hell which is a fantastic movie. I’m probably going to check this out to see what all the fuss is about but I have tempered expectations to say the least.
The Spy Next Door

Directed by: Brian Levant
Written by: Jonathan Bernstein & James Greer
Starring: Jackie Chan & Amber Valletta
Synopsis: Former CIA spy Bob Ho (Chan) takes on his toughest assignment to date: looking after his girlfriend’s three kids, who haven’t exactly warmed to their mom’s beau. And when one of the youngsters accidentally downloads a top-secret formula, Bob’s longtime nemesis, a Russian terrorist, pays a visit to the family.
Trailer:
My Thoughts? Jackie Chan continues to remind me that he’s gotten old and since he probably can’t manage a huge dramatic film he must do crappy children’s movies which requires little physical effort from him. Jackie, you’ve earned the right to do rubbish like this now, but I’m not watching it. I’ve actually seen this movie already, and back then it was known as The Pacifier with The Rock as opposed to Jackie, didn’t like it then and I doubt I’ll like this.
So what are you seeing this week?
