Coming Out This Week
November 1st, 2009by Andrew Robinson

Hitting theatres this week for me is:
Whip It

Directed by: Drew Barrymore
Written by: Shauna Cross
Starring: Ellen Page
Synopsis: In Bodeen, Texas, an indie-rock loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.
Trailer:
My Thoughts: Here is what looks like a fun little coming of age story that I can get into. It may look a but female oriented but that doesn’t bother me, especially since it stars one of my favourite young actresses that I hope one day people will notice is more than just the hipster character that she got known for doing in Juno. Also I’m interested to see how Drew Barrymore does as a director, because even though I don’t always love all the movies shes in I tend to like her in them and this movie seems like a good fit for her to do on her first outing behind the camera.
The Stepfather

Directed by: Nelson McCormick
Written by: J.S. Cardone
Starring: Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, Penn Badgley and Amber Heard
Synopsis: Michael returns home from military school to find his mother happily in love and living with her new boyfriend. As the two men get to know each other, he becomes more and more suspicious of the man who is always there with a helpful hand.
Trailer:
My Thoughts: Here comes another really bad looking horror remake. I can’t vouch for anyone in the production but the trailer makes it look down right atrocious. I’ve also read nothing but negative remarks about the film and have absolutely no intention of watching this movie or the original that is probably better anyways.
So what are you planning to see this week?
