Coming Out - 09.10.04 - Funny People

Hitting theatres near me (i.e. Jamaica) is:

Funny People

Funny People - Hill, Schwartzman & Rogen

Directed by: Judd Apatow

Written by: Judd Apatow

Starring: Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill

Synopsis: When seasoned comedian George Simmons learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, his desire to form a genuine friendship cause him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act. (from IMDB)

Trailers:

My Thoughts: Judd Apatow has placed his stamp of approval on many of the best comedies that have come out in the last five years and this seems to be one of his more honest comedies yet.  This is the third film that he has directed – the first two being The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up – and I can’t wait to see it.

Jennifer’s Body

Jennifer's Body - Megan Fox

Directed by: Karyn Kusama

Written by: Diablo Cody

Starring: Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried

Synopsis: A newly possessed cheerleader turns into a killer who specializes in offing her male classmates. Can her best friend put an end to the horror? (from IMDB)

Trailer:

My Thoughts: After Diablo Cody hit the film scene running with her debut screenplay [Juno] winning an Oscar and becoming one of the most polarizing films I’ve heard reviewed for the past two years I can’t wait to see her take her ink and try and plant all of her quirky hipster lingo into the horror genre.  I don’t expect this movie to be anything more than the typical cheesy over the top horror movie that it is with some awesome music and fun dialogue.  I hope Megan Fox doesn’t be anymore horrible than I already expect because she’s a tool as far as I’m concerned, and not as hot as everyone thinks she is as far as I’m concerned.

The Informant

The Informant - Matt Damon

Directed by: Steven Soderbergh

Written by: Scott Z. Burns and Kurt Eichenwald

Starring: Matt Damon

Synopsis: The U.S. government decides to go after an agri-business giant with a price-fixing accusation, based on the evidence submitted by their star witness, vice president turned informant Mark Whitacre. (from IMDB)

Trailer:

My Thoughts: If you’ve been reading you would know that I’ve been doing a Soderbergh Marathon – called The Soderbergh Series – and with that in mind I don’t know how I can decide not to watch this movie.  I love his style of filmmaking and even though at times he might do somethings that don’t always work it always ends up entertaining and/or interesting.  I love Matt Damon films and he’s great in comedic roles so this is a must watch for me.

What are you planning on seeing this upcoming week?
