Hayoa Miayazaki’s latest film, Ponyo on the Cliff, has already set domestic records in Japan and gained high praise from most critics.  I’m a huge fan of Miayazaki’s work, he’s yet to make a bad movie as far as I’m concerned and this looks no less than magical. (more…)

Mike [Gerard Butler] is a racy commentator on relationships and the truth about them. He is brought onto a local network television show which is produced by the overly controlling and romantically challenged Abby [Katherine Heigl]. Abby can’t stand Mike’s perception of the men and women and after Mike bets his job on his ability to help Abby land this ‘dreamy’ guy we enter one of the most uneven romantic comedies we’ll probably see for a long time. It’s been reported that Ridley Scott [also directed films such as Blade Runner and Black Hawk Down] has been attached to direct the upcoming prequel for the Alien franchise.  The screenplay is currently being written by Jon Spaihts.  It has been three decades since the first Alien film was released, which was directed by Ridley Scott, and with many people curious as to what kind of prequel we can be expecting it is just exciting to hear that Ridley is back on the franchise that he started. Wes Anderson’s newest stop motion film, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, has finally got itself a trailer.  The film stars George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Brian Cox and Willem Dafoe. (more…)

Ben Affleck [also directed Gone Baby Gone] will be directing his second feature length film, The Town, which is based on the novel “Prince of Thieves” written by Chuck Hogan.  The book is about “a dashing Boston bank robber who falls in love with a bank teller while eluding the unwanted attentions of the FBI.” (more…)

The trailer for the newest Coen Brothers film has hit the net and it does something that I can’t tell is amazing or not.  The trailer is great but I have no clue what to expect of the film other than it will be dark and funny, i.e. a Coen Brothers movie. (more…)

I once wrote a paper on the history of animation in Japan and in research for the paper I sat and I watched a complete season of Astroboy and it was a truely lovable show with great characters.  One thing I definitely said to myself while watching this show was that it would look so awesome today, and here it is finally the way I want it to look.  These images look amazing and I can’t wait for this film.  See the new images below: (more…)
