Presto is the new Pixar short that was placed in front of the new feature film Wall-E. In this short a magician is performing his show where he performs a simple trick using a magic (I hate writing summaries).

Wall-E [Movie Review]

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

In the distant future the world becomes too polluted to maintain life. So all of the humans are shipped off into space while we leave robots to clean up our mess. After years have passed all those robots have shut down, excepting one little Wall-E (Ben Burtt) robot. The most interesting thing about this robot is it is interested, and grown a personality. One day while he is out doing his work a spaceship lands to drop off Eve (Elissa Knight). Wall-E immediately falls in love. The film follows the love story as Wall-E chases Eve around and tries to make a connection.

Wanted [Movie Review]

We meet Wesley Gibson(James McAvoy) the most worthless individual you could find. He works in a crunch job where he is constantly abused by his boss. One day while picking up some more anti-anxiety meds he is approached by the stunning Fox(Angelina Jolie) who tells him that his father, who walked out on him a week after his birth, had just died and was one of the greatest assassins in the world. He is then taken into the “Fraternity” where he is turned into an assassin under the tutelage of the Fox, The Repairman(Marc Warren), The Butcher(Dato Bakhtadze), The Gunsmith(Common) and they are all conducted by Sloan(Morgan Freeman).

My Top Ten Directors [Part Two]

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

So we continue our romp through cinema’s visionaries. Personally this is definitely interesting for me, as I went through a somewhat difficult process to come up with this list. It was especially painful for me to have to decide who was not worthy of the top ten. And even more painful to decide once who was in the top ten, where each director went. I felt like it was too harsh for me to call one of them worse than the other, since not only are each of the members of my top ten amazing directors, but also some are just incomoparable. It is not easy to decide whether a Chris Nolan beats an Edgar Wright or any other huge comparison. Anyways, on to the list.

George Carlin dead at age of 71

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

On Sunday, June 22, 2008, George Carlin passed away of heart failure. George Carlin is my favourite foul mouthed comedian. I’ve always enjoyed his comic style of making words simply float through the air so gently and easily but at the same time making them fat and loud with his harsh and honest perspective.

Opie Gets Laid [Indie] Trailer

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

So here’s a trailer that was pointed out to me over on youtube. I’m pretty impressed by it. I love the indie feel and looks kind of like a Clerks, in that there will be some witty dialogue and all filmed in basically one location. The DVD comes out in September and I will definitely give it a watch when I can get my hands on the DVD.

My Top Ten Directors [Part One]

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Now I know this won’t be as controversial as if I had titled it “The Top Ten Directors of All Time”, because this way I’m able to defend my selection by simply stating preference rather than trying to stand behind some artistic values. And especially for those readers out there who know me will automatically know who my number one is and won’t try to argue with me, because we have already had this argument before and know exactly where it ends… it ends at the lonely dead end of personal preference. And I guess I’m writing this one more for those readers who don’t know me, and since I never really made a proper introduction when I started this site it will give you an idea of my theatrical taste rather than having to read through a dozen movie reviews and seeing if your preference and mine coincide.

So here we go…
